Amina Zia

Amina trained at ALRA and as well as acting, she is known as a stand-up comedian and a published short story writer. Amina has worked a lot with Kali Theatre Company on their new writing seasons and has also worked on three seasons of the Angelic Tales new writing festivals at Theatre Royal Stratford East. She was also runner-up of Monologue Slam at Theatre Royal Stratford East in 2013, where she wrote and performed 'Honeytrap in a Hijab'. Amina has performed at the Bush Theatre in 'Animal Magnetism' and 'Panting', which she wrote.

For TV, Amina has appeared in Doctors (BBC), The Delivery Man (ITV) and Citizen Khan (BBC Comedy North). Most recently she played the series regular character of Officer Driscoll in the new revived series of Porridge.
