Oliver Marshall in Blondel
Oliver Marshall goes straight from a run of Forty Years On at Chichester Festival Theatre to rehearse for Blondel at Union Theatre. In collaboration with Heartaches Limited, this newly worked production is set to be a fantastic updated version of a show that tells the story of the legendary 12th Century minstrel Blondel on his journey around Europe to find his missing King, who he cannot accept is dead.
Oliver will be playing the role of one of the monks, a harmony group who act as narrators throughout the piece. The cast will be working directly with Sir Tim Rice who wrote the lyrics for the show. It is directed by Sasha Regan.
Tim Rice said “I’m delighted Blondel is returning to the stage. It was one of the most enjoyable projects of my career, and I’ve always felt Stephen Oliver’s wonderful music deserved a larger audience than it reached back in 1983 when the show first ran. I hope this new production at the terrific Union Theatre will please old fans and find some new ones.”
The show runs at the Union from 21 June – 15 July 2017.
