Disaster At Sea: The Piper Alpha Story, featuring Joshua Manning as Alex Clark, has been nominated for best factual series and best director.
A gripping three-part documentary series re-examining the world’s deadliest offshore energy accident, Disaster At Sea: The Piper Alpha Story is currently available to stream on BBC iPlayer. On July 6, 1988, a series of catastrophic explosions destroyed the Piper Alpha oil platform in the North Sea, killing 167 men and leaving only 61 survivors. The episodes provide a minute-by-minute account of the explosions, the profound grief that gripped Aberdeen, and the subsequent Cullen Public Inquiry that exposed massive safety failures.
The Scottish BAFTAs will be held on the 15th November and can be watched live on the BAFTA YouTube, as well as on BBC iPlayer.
